What is your background and knowledge in fitness?
I have been passionate about fitness and wellness since I can remember. I’ve played tennis my entire life, which led me to a full athletic scholarship to college. Over the last 15 years, I’ve dedicated my career to helping people live healthier lives, both on a micro and macro level. My experience ranges from leading virtual and group fitness classes at top boutique studios in the US, to developing hardware and connected fitness products for Life Fitness.
Can you discuss your expertise and training style?
I have a number of certifications, including the ACE Group Fitness Instructor Certification, ICG Cycling certification and USAW Olympic Weightlifting Coach Certification. I like to motivate my clients and help them visualize better versions of themselves. Whether that means becoming healthier, faster, stronger, or happier. I like to use different visualization examples that help them stay focused on the goal. It is my job to make them understand that change and progress doesn’t occur overnight. And i make sure to be by their side celebrating every victory and milestone in their journey.
Why do you have passion for fitness and what motivates you to teach fitness classes?
I have a non-traditional background as it relates to fitness. Yes, fitness has always been a part of my life. I’ve played tennis since I can remember and I’ve been going to the gym since I was 15 years old. However, right after high school I decided to follow the traditional route; first, getting a degree in business, then getting a corporate job, and then going to grad school to get an MBA. And it was exactly during business school that I had a realization. I was about to turn 30 and I realized that it was time to pursue my passion. Ironically, Life Fitness was recruiting at my school for corporate roles. I interviewed with them and the rest is history. I graduated with an MBA from the University of Chicago School of Business and joined Life Fitness as part of their leadership development program. Today, I consider myself fortunate as I am in a position where I am able to optimize people’s lives by combining my passion for fitness and my experience in business.

What other hobbies do you have or fun facts can you share with us?
I love salsa dancing! I learned to dance over 10 years ago when I lived in Miami. That’s actually how my wife and I met. We’ve performed in several international salsa congresses and enjoy sharing our Hispanic heritage with others through dance. Also, I recently taught myself how to skateboard and next on the list is learning how to surf!
