What is your background and knowledge in fitness?

I have been passionate about fitness and wellness since I can remember. I’ve played tennis my entire life, which led me to a full athletic scholarship to college. Over the last 15 years, I’ve dedicated my career to helping people live healthier lives, both on a micro and macro level. My experience ranges from leading virtual and group fitness classes at top boutique studios in the US, to developing hardware and connected fitness products for Life Fitness.

Can you discuss your expertise and training style?

I have a number of certifications, including the ACE Group Fitness Instructor Certification, ICG Cycling certification and USAW Olympic Weightlifting Coach Certification. I like to motivate my clients and help them visualize better versions of themselves. Whether that means becoming healthier, faster, stronger, or happier. I like to use different visualization examples that help them stay focused on the goal. It is my job to make them understand that change and progress doesn’t occur overnight. And i make sure to be by their side celebrating every victory and milestone in their journey.

Why do you have passion for fitness and what motivates you to teach fitness classes?

I have a non-traditional background as it relates to fitness. Yes, fitness has always been a part of my life. I’ve played tennis since I can remember and I’ve been going to the gym since I was 15 years old. However, right after high school I decided to follow the traditional route; first, getting a degree in business, then getting a corporate job, and then going to grad school to get an MBA. And it was exactly during business school that I had a realization. I was about to turn 30 and I realized that it was time to pursue my passion. Ironically, Life Fitness was recruiting at my school for corporate roles. I interviewed with them and the rest is history. I graduated with an MBA from the University of Chicago School of Business and joined Life Fitness as part of their leadership development program. Today, I consider myself fortunate as I am in a position where I am able to optimize people’s lives by combining my passion for fitness and my experience in business.

What Life Fitness On Demand classes do you Teach?

Treadmill, Elliptical, PowerMill Climber, ARC Trainer in Both English and Spanish.

What do you recommend to someone just getting started with Life Fitness On Demand and/or fitness in general?

The beauty of Life Fitness On Demand is that it offers a variety of classes for everyone. Whether you are starting your fitness journey or already an athlete, our classes will motivate you and guide you through an energizing workout. My recommendation is to try different program types and instructors until you find what works best for you. And to always maintain a long term perspective. It is very important to focus on the end goal and realize that there will be ups and downs but if we stay disciplined and consistent, we can achieve anything! That’s what we are here for! All you have to do is show up, select a class, and we’ll take care of the rest!

What other hobbies do you have or fun facts can you share with us?

I love salsa dancing! I learned to dance over 10 years ago when I lived in Miami. That’s actually how my wife and I met. We’ve performed in several international salsa congresses and enjoy sharing our Hispanic heritage with others through dance. Also, I recently taught myself how to skateboard and next on the list is learning how to surf!

What Life Fitness On Demand classes do you Teach?

Treadmill, Elliptical, PowerMill Climber, ARC Trainer, Upright Bike, and Recumbent Bike.

What do you recommend to someone just getting started with Life Fitness On Demand and/or fitness in general?

In addition to long-term goals, set short-term goals, and really FOCUS on the short term. Long term will then fall into place. Reward yourself for achieving short-term goals.
Get a friend to join you in your journey, it will not only help you stay accountable, but it will be loads of FUN!
DO NOT compare yourself to anyone else. This is your journey and own it!
Come up with a positive mantra and say it over and over again.
Believe in yourself. You are much stronger than you think!
There will be setbacks, do not let them detour you from your goals. Keep moving forward.
AND SMILE, LAUGH, BE HAPPY!!

What other hobbies do you have or fun facts can you share with us?

I have 3 awesome children. I can say that now that they are young adults. I need to be outside as much as possible. I love trying new outdoor adventures and activities. With that said, I am not always proficient at them. However, if I really want to get better, I practice, practice, practice. I like to have a vegetable garden (not a total green thumb). I like to cook, build and fix things. The demolition of a project is extremely fun as well! And I LOVE to eat! Lastly, I do not take myself too seriously, life is short, be happy and kind… and laugh!

What is your background and knowledge in fitness?
I played soccer growing up. D1 collegiate level. Professionally in Spain. 4 years (to present) in the fitness industry — group fitness (in NYC primarily strength and conditioning based classes); currently primarily moving private training clients online.

Can you discuss your expertise and training style?

I have loads of experience with weight training – dumbbells/free weights, hypertrophy training. I’m also proficient at sports conditioning. Training style is fun, upbeat, supportive, yet challenging. My clients tell me they miss my workouts whenever they’re away on holiday.

Why do you have passion for fitness and what motivates you to teach fitness classes?

I love the way I feel whenever I work out and HATE the way I feel whenever I don’t! I want that same possibility for others: to feel their best self and live happier, healthier and more fruitful lives if given the chance to be set up for success. Increased physical fitness will do that for them.

What Life Fitness On Demand classes do you Teach?

Treadmill, Elliptical, ARC Trainer, Upright Bike, and Recumbent Bike.

What do you recommend to someone just getting started with Life Fitness On Demand and/or fitness in general?

I’d recommend they pick a class that seems fun and not to worry so much on current fitness level. Trying something new can be overwhelming or intimidating and it’s best to get your feet wet with something that makes you happy and smiling. Keep calm, don’t stress about keeping up with the class. Focus on finishing and get practice sticking with a program.

What other hobbies do you have or fun facts can you share with us?

I love dancing! (But at home or spontaneously at a lounge — not formally trained over here). I also love hiking, playing pickup soccer, beach soccer or volleyball, and traveling.

I have many certifications including TRX Level 1 & 2, StrongFirst Kettlebell Level 1, RRCA Run Coach Level 1, Schwinn & Mad Dogg Spinning and my Group and Personal Training through SCW. I love continuing education for fitness and try to take at least 1 per year to stay up-to-date and fresh!

Can you discuss your expertise and training style?

I absolutely love to coach strength, HIIT and bootcamp style workouts! It is so important to be able to move well as we age and strength training should be at the top of our priority list. I also love to coach whether that’s running or walking or on one of our amazing pieces of cardio equipment- personal favorites are the treadill and upright bike. I am all about movement that promotes longevity, strength and improved cardiovascular function!

Why do you have passion for fitness and what motivates you to teach fitness classes?

I was inactive for the first 21 years of my life because I thought my body needed to look a certain way to move. ALL bodies are welcome in my space (both in person and virtually!) and there are ways we can all move. I want to motivate and inspire others to find their greatness through sweat- every workout is a challenge for us to get stronger, together!

What do you recommend to someone just getting started with Life Fitness On Demand and/or fitness in general?

Be patient with yourself and don’t overcomplicate it! Fitness is a personal journey and we all have different goals, but mainly aim to move your body in some form each day. Go for a beginner class on our Life Fitness on Demand equipment- we have so many to choose from! My favorites are the beginner jogs on the treadmill that incorporate walking.

What other hobbies do you have or fun facts can you share with us?

I love to travel and drink way too many iced coffees every day!

What is your background and knowledge in fitness?
My fitness career began with gymnastics and Volleyball as a child. I went on to play volleyball in college and got a job as a personal trainer in order to make extra money on the side. I ended up falling in love with training and turned it into a full time career.

Can you discuss your expertise and training style?

While I am no longer a gymnast or volleyball player, I still train as if I am. I appreciate the discipline and mental drive of challenging, manipulating and transforming the mind and body to its full potential as all athletes do. believe that everyone has an inner athlete and superhero but not everyone has had the luxury and opportunity of discovering it. My workouts are tough but with the right mindset they are do-able. I teach people to be patient and listen to their bodies so they can push past the most difficult moments in their workouts, which will lead to pushing past the difficulties in life. My motto: Train Your Body. Train Your Mind. Strength starts in your mind. You must first believe you are strong, then your body will follow.

Why do you have passion for fitness and what motivates you to teach fitness classes?

Fitness helped me build grit and the ability to persevere through the toughest times in life. Fitness gave and helped me build a community and foundation of like minded people. Fitness helped me to not only see my own potential but achieve my potential. Fitness helped me realize that nothing is impossible.

Fitness helped me discover that all of the lessons and training sessions in the gym could be translated into real life. I want everyone who takes my classes to understand that everything is interconnected. The stress we experience in a class is the same stress we experience in life. There are moments of joy and success, as well moments of self defeat and failure. But your mindset is what determines how and if you move forward. Self awareness starts when you are under duress. Self discovery is how you come out of it.

Be patient, set realistic goals and don’t be hard on yourself: meaning, set long term goals not short
term goals. Commit to 2-3 days at a time for the first month and if you can fit in a 3rd or 4th day then
great! Then next month add on more. Know that every day is going to be different because there are
so many variables that affect your energy and mindset such as sleep, work, food intake, environment
and personal life. Be kind to yourself on the days that you have low energy and take advantage of the
days that you are fully prepared. As long as you give 100% of what you have everyday then you are
on track to success.

What other hobbies do you have or fun facts can you share with us?

I have a 10 year old daughter. My favorite cheat meal is a burger and fries. I want to open an orphanage in Kenya and I love to take daily naps.
