Ray Nicholas is the National Fitness Director for UFC Gym. Whilst he can take advantage of the reputation and recognition of the UFC name, he says the biggest hurdle coming into the marketplace is ensuring people are aware of a fight gym and what is on offer.
“UFC, being an Ultimate Fighting Championship, means people think we’re all about fighting and everyone here is a fighter; but we’re actually the opposite. This means, our biggest hurdle is convincing the public that we are a gym where we are about training different. We are about training like a fighter, not being a fighter. Our gym encompasses all sorts of training regimes, and their demographic crosses all age groups and genders.”
When it comes to their equipment, UFC Gym want to cater to all these demographics and their preferred types of fitness. “We chose Life Fitness and Hammer Strength purely because they’re a leader in the market. The quality of the products, the quality of the equipment, speaks for itself. We are a premium facility gym and therefore, we want to have premium equipment to back that up.”
